A Community Helping The Employees of Kona Village
April 13, 2011 – With news that Kona Village Resort has closed due to the earthquake generated tsunami, the community-at-large stepped in to support the employees who have been a part of Kona Village for the past 45 years.
On April 3rd 12 companies came together with Governor Abercrombie, Senator Malama Solomon and the Department of Labor to provide employment resources for the employees. 150 employees were there to look at their options on how they would make it during these difficult economic times. The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations discussed unemployment insurance, COBRA and Workforce Development to help make this transitional period less stressful.
Other companies that have stepped in to help are Hualalai Resort and Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, offering jobs to employees.
Kona Village has provided cherished memories that guests and employees look forward to returning to in the near future... mahalo to everyone who has supported Kona Village.
