Kayaking Our open ocean kayaks are available in one person and two person styles. Available on a first come, first served basis and are to be used within our boundaries.
Snorkeling Equipment Adult and youth sizes of masks, snorkels and fins provided for your use at no charge. We also have prescription masks available.
Boogie Boards Foam boards are available for floatation or just for fun and play in the gentle surf.
Keiki Fishing When was the last time you went fishing? We provide small bamboo rods, barbless hooks and bait for fishing in the ancient Hawaiian ponds right on property.
Keiki Surfboards Surfboards are available for keiki (children) to use near shore.
Lifejackets Adult, Youth, Child and Infant jackets provided.
ALAKA`I NALU OCEAN ACTIVITIES
Alaka`i Nalu means, "Ambassadors of the Waves" in the Hawaiian language. We consider our staff to have a much bigger role than just teaching people how to surf. Our Alaka`i Nalu promote and teach ancient and modern activ
ities on the water, while helping guests develop a deeper respect for the ocean. While learning a new water activity, the Alaka`i Nalu share their lifelong knowledge about the special connection Hawaii's people have with the ocean. Each Alaka`i Nalu knows that the ocean has something special to teach us all. After spending time with Alaka`i nalu staff, guests quickly learn why they are considered ambassadors of the ocean.
Outrigger Canoes Outrigger canoes are central to the signature program of the Alaka`i Nalu. Join us for an informative lesson on the ancient art of canoe paddling. The Alaka`i crew will share the historical significance of canoes in context to the discovery of the Hawaiian Islands. Be sure to ask Alaka`i Nalu staff about our Ultimate Outrigger Adventure!

Our Alaka`i Nalu team are always available to assist guests with complimentary water sports equipment, private instruction, advice and recommendations on how best to respect the beautiful yet often unpredictable ocean. Fee applies to all activities listed below.
Sailing When wind and sea conditions allow, sailing in Kahuwai Bay can be exhilarating. A Sunfish sailboat is available. (Experience in dinghy-class sailing is required).
Windsurfing Capture the wind in the sail of a windsurf board and youÕll be skimming across the Bay in no time. An invigorating workout for certain.
StandUp Paddle Boards Experience our newest ocean adventure. A combination of surfing and canoe paddling. After a guided trip and safety review guests are welcomed to use the paddleboards for the remainder of their stay.Ê
SCUBA Diving Our Alaka`i Nalu experienced staff love to share their enthusiasm for the amazing marine world beneath the surface awaiting discovery. SCUBA Certification is offered. Complete Dive packages available.
SCOOTERS Snorkel For the thrill, for the fun, for the ease of it all, check out Alaka`i Nalu DPV (Dive Propulsion Vehicles). Join a guided snorkel tour on our underwater scooters. Zip out to our unique turtle cleaning station and see rainbows of colorful fish along the way. Who knew snorkeling could be this fun!Ê
Junior Alaka`i Nalu Program For the real ocean lover. This three day program abides by the values of Alaka`i Nalu (stewards of the ocean). Daily activities may include standup paddleboards, windsurfing, free diving, zodiac boat captain, outrigger canoe paddling, sailing, scooter snorkeling, scuba diving and shoreline fishing. Exclusively tailored for ages 13-17. Program includes three, four-hour sessions and is offered on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Guided outrigger canoe adventures along with SCUBA diving and certification from Alaka`i Nalu can be arranged at the Beach Desk. All ocean activities are subject to staff, equipment availability and weather conditions. A 24-hour cancellation policy applies to all pre-booked activities.
